For skiing or snowboarding in Japan, there’s no better place than Niseko. With snow falling for roughly 130 days, almost constantly, it has become a Mecca for winter sport enthusiasts all over the world. On average, seasonal snowfall is 15-16 meters, leading to Niseko being voted the world’s second snowiest ski resort by Forbes Magazine in 2007.
Niseko offers courses for every level of difficulty. If you’re just starting out, try the beginner slopes or take lessons with skilled ski instructors. If you’re already skilled and looking for something more exciting, you might want to go for tree runs, off-piste skiing or night-skiing.
All the courses are connected and served by an extensive lift system, including comfortable gondolas and covered chairlifts. For a beautiful view from atop the old volcano, there’s even a hiking trail leading to the summit from the highest lift.
